Emotions. Schumann: Aufschwung

What do you do when you feel a magma boiling inside that wants to manifest? Mixed emotions that must be expressed, but not in words?
 You play! But what do you play?
What better represents this unresolved tangle made of youthful ardors charged with dreams alternating with feverish unfulfilled irruptions?
There is no composer who best paints these moods than Robert Schumann, the most romantic and restless visionary.
"Aufschwung" forms part of the Fantasiestücke op. 12 and, like the title says, it's really a momentum, a request, a leap into the unknown.

There are three alternating themes in this dreamlike framework.
 Everything starts with an overwhelming motion, almost a question to the Creator on the meaning of your existence, a question in a loud voice, which requires an immediate feedback.
A calmer period follows, though inflamed by rhythm in sestines but with less urgency. The dialogues continue between the voices, always longing for something unattainable and unknowable. The initial theme returns and relaunches its request, plus 2 tones above, tirelessly.
This time finally everything fades into an oasis of apparent peace, a long and soothing phrase explained almost playful, makes us breathe a sigh of relief, but is already boiling back to the serious tones a return of the restless initial invocation.
First a hint, two detached notes, but then more vehement and impetuous than ever, reinforced and weighed down.
From here to the end the same fluctuating dialogue already heard, but a fourth below, to conclude with the last yet drastically silenced question.
