Discover new routes

February 23, 2020, coronavirus emerges in Italy. We are at the Philharmonic theater in Verona for the premiere of "L'Italiana in Algeri", they measure the fever, the performance is done, it will be the first and last.
On the 24th morning I take the first train to go home, stunned at how life can change overnight.
I don't know why, but that afternoon I put my hands on the piano and want to express something, something that I have never tried before.
I swear, in all my life I have never put on the piano to improvise or invent something, always attached to sheet music and unable to think of a musical phrase.
I wanted to say something, throw out a feeling, and my first, very simple song was born. Then another and yet another, and today at 10 March 5 came out, plus one that I had done to accompany a video previously.
Of these, 2 feel them most dear to me.
The first is an "ironic waltz", a naive attempt in music to exorcise fear for this virus, supported by images of Venice, autumny and melancholy but very expressive. With a slightly slanting trend, inspired a little by Satie a little by Nino Rota, I have before my eyes a masked party in a sumptuous Venetian Palace (just we were in carnival these days) that fades and disappears in the past little for measures, sucked by the lagoon.

The second, "Waiting", was born in a secret corner of my heart, it expresses all the life expectancy that boils inside me, especially now that we are forced to wait.
I don't hide the fact that when I play it I get very excited, and I'm happy to be able to communicate something of my own for the first time without having to use verbal language.
Musically speaking, it could also be considered a study for the left hand, for the passage of the thumb and the maintenance of a homogeneous and sweet sonority having to constantly go through a jump and arpeggio of almost 2 octaves.

Tell me what do you think, meanwhile I go on in this adventure, a bit for play a little forced by the difficult moment of enclosure and emergency.
