Lullaby for Venice

A gondola at dusk,

Alone,

The oar pushes you slow

In the empty canal

only your lapping.

Light and fluid proceeds

Agile under Rialto

And no more faces and shots

Of bewitched tourists.

The eternal buildings are mirroring

In immaculate waves

And accompany happy

Your passing.


So I imagined the Lullaby

for Venice, which remained deserted and astonished

to its immediate depopulation.
